TOWN HALL MEETING
CITY OF BERKELEY LAKE

MAY 4, 2006

Those in attendance for the Town Hall Meeting were as follows:
Mayor:  Lois Salter
Council Members:
Walter Anderson, Bernie Cohen, Debbie Guthrie, Tom Kitchens, and George Sipe
Deputy City Clerk:  Sandy Rosenberger
Citizens Present: 50

CALL TO ORDER
Salter opened the meeting at 7:00pm at 4043 South Berkeley Lake Road.

ISSUE
Lakeshore Drive Safety
The following citizens expressed the opinion that they had not run into any problems while biking, walking, or jogging on Lakeshore Drive, and therefore did not foresee any problems:  Randy Johnson, Susan Sorrell, Dave Moffit, Dan Miller, Jennifer Lombardi, Conrad Jurgens, Bob Herb, Diane Cuttino, Charlie Carroll, Cheryl Allen, Rebecca Spitler, Kitty Dales, Sue Golubic, Muriel Davoll, and Dick Lackey.

The following citizens expressed the opinion that traffic should be addressed as an entire city issue not just Lakeshore Drive:  Randy Johnson, Mary Malinowski, Kay Delaney,
Marilyn Childress, Andre Bargenquast, Diane Cuttino, Cheryl Allen, Rebecca Spitler, Kitty Dales,  Sue Golubic, Barbara Wessel, Dick LoPresti, Mark Ottavan, Wayne Mitsch,
Bill Kent, Patty Thumann, J. Brenton, Jeff Krosner, Muriel Davoll, Marty Brenton, Lori VanBuskirk, Jim Weeks, Wyelda Bierman, Dick Lackey, Paul Myers, and William Smith.

The following citizens expressed the opinion that the citizens need to be accountable for their own actions and need to utilize common sense and that they do not want to see speed tables, speed humps, gates, or a one-way system on Lakeshore Drive:  Randy Johnson, Pete Westafer, Susan Sorrell, Dave Moffit, Barb Carroll, Shawn Cochran, David Marion, Dan Miller, Jennifer Lombardi, Jane Hardwick, David Sleet, Mary Malinowski, Charlie Carroll, Diane Welch, Wayne Mitsch, John Zibrida, Delicia Reynolds, and Bob Malinowski.

The following citizen expressed the opinion that she would like to see speed tables:  B.J. Barrett

The following citizen expressed the opinion that there should be a one-way road system on Lakeshore Drive:  Greg Hart

The following citizen expressed that he would like to see a gate on Lakeshore Drive:  Bob Herb

The following citizen expressed that she weas happy that the city was looking into this issue:  Louise Gobron

Mayor Salter’s Comments
Salter was in agreement with the citizens that stated the issue should be addressed as a whole City issue not just Lakeshore Drive. The Mayor also stated that at the next budget meeting, she would recommend that the police presence in the City be increased.

Council’s Comments
Debbie Guthrie was in agreement with the citizens that stated the issue should be addressed as a whole city issue not just Lakeshore Drive. She suggested looking into cost effective solutions first.
